Doechii is back with a bang. The Florida rapper just dropped her latest single, Anxiety, on Tuesday, March 4, through Top Dawg Entertainment and Capitol Records. She’s calling it loud and clear straight from the swamp, and fans are already hooked. Announced on X just 30 minutes before its release, the track comes with striking cover art. It features a mirrored black-and-white shot of Doechii, her braids linking the dual images in a bold statement.
Anxiety isn’t entirely new to the scene. The song has been buzzing on TikTok for weeks, but its roots go deeper. Doechii first performed the original version five years ago on her YouTube channel. This time, she’s flipped it with a fresh twist, sampling Gotye’s 2011 Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper, Somebody That I Used to Know, featuring Kimbra. The chorus growls with intensity: “Anxiety, keep on trying me, I feel it quietly, tryna silence me, yeah, my anxiety, can’t shake it off of me, somebody’s watching me, and my anxiety.” Sound familiar? That same hook powered Sleepy Hallow’s 2023 track ANXIETY featuring Doechii, which climbed to No. 3 on Bubbling Under Hot 100 and No. 31 on Rhythmic Airplay.
Doechii’s 2025 is off to a blazing start. Last month, she snagged her first Grammy for Best Rap Album, joining the elite ranks of Cardi B and Lauryn Hill as only the third woman to claim the prize. Her 2024 mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, earned rave reviews and gave her a career-high Hot 100 peak with Denial is a River at No. 21. Now, Anxiety is here to keep the momentum rolling.
